Fortuna is part of the collection known as Carmina Burana. Cantana Carmina Burana was composed by German composer Carl Orff in 1935-1936. Fortuna is the most famous piece in the series and opens and closes the cycle. Orff's arrangements of the poem are very popular and have been performed by numerous orchestras and artists. Composition has become an important part of popular culture, having been used in countless film and television productions to convey dramatic and terrifying emotions. This piece of the series has become the most listened to classical music work of the last 75 years in England.
